How to Descale the washing machine with citric acid: instructions and tips:

If you want to descale your washing machine, you can use cheap home remedies, which are also used in the household for other purposes. With citric acid, for example, you can achieve good results while also saving money. A step-by-step guide and further information were given by laundry pick up service.

Descale the washing machine with citric acid: this is how you proceed?
Put seven to 8 tablespoons of citric acid powder directly into the drum of the machine.
Let the empty machine go through a complete wash cycle with a maximum of 40 degrees. The citric acid is distributed in the machine.

If the washing machine has a pause button, press it halfway through the wash cycle. Put the machine in standby mode for one to two hours in this way. This gives the acid enough time to work. So it can develop their lime-dissolving effect better. If the pause button is missing, simply power off the machine for the same amount of time by pressing the "Off" button or turning the dial to "Off". This will not damage the electronics of the machine.

Continue the wash and let it pass through. Alternatively, restart it if you have turned off the machine. Then you can use your machine back to normal.
Why do washing machines have to be descaled?

Limescale deposits are one of the most common problems with washing machines, especially after several years of operation. This is related to the concentration of lime in tap water, which varies in height depending on the region.

Especially on the heating element of the washing machine deposits itself thereby over time from the lime. This is undesirable because, among other things, the energy consumption increases when the water is heated, when the bars are covered by a more or less thick layer of lime. Also, the heating rod can also take damage in the long term by limescale.

According to laundry pick up service, the hoses may also form chalk layers over time, causing them to become porous and eventually cracked. It is therefore essential to descale the machine at regular intervals. In the case of water with the degree of hardness "soft", a decalcification is sufficient per year, with higher degrees of hardness it should be descaled twice or even more often per year.
