If you want to go green while washing, follow these tips offered by dry
cleaning pickup and delivery.
Detergent:
It is best to use heavy-duty laundry only for light laundry, as it
contains bleach - so it can attack fibers and colors. For colored or delicate
garments better a color detergent or one for wool and fine use, which is gentle
to the laundry and protects the colors. To save the environment, the detergent
should be highly concentrated and therefore be used sparingly.
And what about softener? For textiles that are flattened, softener
facilitates ironing. As a result, less electrical energy is needed, which relieves
the environment. This is because soft fibers creaseless and are easier to iron
smoothly. However, to use fabric softener only if you need its features because
not all ingredients are 100 percent biodegradable.
5th wash
program:
Many washing machines today have a wide range of programs - from eco to
short-wash, from wool to jeans. In particular for wool and delicates, the
corresponding program should be used.
A wrong program can keep you from enjoying your clothes for a very long
time - a cotton shirt may forgive the wrong washing program, but not the silk
dress or the cashmere bra. By the way, it is a misconception that a short wash
consumes less energy than a long wash. Short programs, in particular, consume
more water and energy. Eco programs run longer, but are much more efficient,
because the exposure time of the detergent is higher and thus lower
temperatures sufficient.
Sort laundry:
Laundry should always be sorted by color and material. First, you sort
roughly according to the type of textile, this usually already indicates the
washing temperature: hand/wool (0 to 30 degrees),
delicate (20 to 40 degrees),
easy-care (20 to 40 degrees), normal (30 to 90 degrees).
And in a second step, sort the piles by colors: white and light
(everything from white to light gray), brightly colored (yellow, orange, red,
pink, green), dark (brown, blue, gray, black).
Tumble dryer:
On the tumble dryer, you should do without - he is just an extreme
energy eater. Also, garments that land regularly in the dryer, take less time.
Many people are unaware that a dryer consumes more energy than a washing
machine. Apart from that, the laundry on the balcony or in the garden usually
dries even faster - at least when the sun is shining or a breeze is blowing.
If you want to save detergent and electricity of your home while
laundry, the best option is to use dry cleaning pickup and delivery.
