Whenever we are going to wash our pashmina by hand, we have that
irrational fear of being spoiled. And that is why today liox cleaners New York NY
bring you some ways to wash our shawls or scarves and not die trying.
Pashmina is the most precious wool in the world for its softness,
warmth, and delicacy, and therefore we have to be very careful when it comes to
your care, regardless of redundancy.
With the way we are going to tell you here and always taking good care
of your clothes, a pashmina shawl maintains its natural beauty for decades.
However, improper washing can damage your shawl and even ruin it.
Remember that they are luxury products and that you should treat them as
such! So it is recommended to wash your shawl if you take it to the dry cleaner
for dry cleaning, especially if it is composed of 100% pashmina (cashmere
wool), it has been dyed in different opposite colors or embroidered.
But we also know that sometimes we feel like washing our favorite
accessories at home or we can only do it there. So here is a small tutorial for
which we have chosen a shawl with 75% pashmina and 25% wool. Once the fabrics
are mixed to make the garments, they become much more resistant and therefore
easier to wash.
Instructions:
You will need a bowl and detergent for delicate clothes or baby shampoo
(the latter is the best option if you want to wash a pure pashmina).
Fill the bowl with water as cold as possible and dissolve some
detergent/shampoo in it.
Important: make sure the detergent is completely dissolved before
dipping your shawl! A buildup of detergent could stain or fade wool forever.
Dip the shawl in the water until it is soaked. Give it a few turns gently
until the soap has soaked in the wool or until foam comes out.
Never rub the shawl to remove a stain! If your shawl has a difficult
stain, it is better that you entrust it to washing professionals.
Empty the water bowl and hold the shawl with one hand and the shower
handle with the other. Water weight can deform the fabric so be very careful
with this step and try to hold the shawl in half and in line with the fabric
lines. Rinse until there is no soap left and the water is transparent.
Another even more delicate way to carry out this step suggested by liox
cleaners New York NY is to fill the water bowl again and immerse the
shawl in it. We turn it over and repeat the step until the shawl does not
release more soap.
